Eligibility Criteria: Who Can Apply?

Typically, candidates must have completed their high school education from a recognized board or institution. The eligibility requirements for CUET 2024 have also been made public by NTA along with the admission notification. In order to get a sense of what will be required for CUET 2024, let’s look at the eligibility requirements from past years.

  • For the general category, candidates must receive at least 50% of the possible points, and for SC/ST candidates, 45%.
  • Depending on the course they choose, candidates should have taken certain subjects in their +2 year.
  • The nationality of candidates participating in CUET must be of Indian Nationality.
  • Applicants should submit three applications to Participating Institutions with three options for the CUET-selected programs.
  • When taking the 12thqualifying exam, candidates can apply for CUET. At the time of counselling, they would need to present the passing certificate, nevertheless.
  • The eligibility criteria for CUET 2024 may vary depending on the courses and colleges students choose. Therefore, applicants need to check the institutions’ official websites before making a choice.
  • Applicants will not be eligible to apply for CUET 2024 if they failed one or more 12th-grade subjects.
  • Even if a candidate succeeds on the entrance exam, admittance to the program is not guaranteed unless the candidate satisfies the requirements of the university to which they are applying.

CUET 2024: Maximum Age

CUET 2024 Nationality

To qualify for the CUET 2024 exam, students must fulfil a few requirements:

  • All applicants must be an Indian.
  • Bhutan is a component country of Nepal.
  • A Tibetan refugee who entered India before to January 1, 1962, intending to settle there permanently.
  • Those who moved permanently to India from Vietnam, Pakistanis, Burmese, Sri Lankans, Kenyans, Ugandans, Tanzanians, Zambians, Malawians, Zaireans, and Ethiopians.

Revised Pattern: A Fresh Perspective on Assessment

Following are some of the changes taking place in CUET 2024.

  • CUET UG 2024 online fee revised
  • Exam to be held in hybrid mode– Pen-paper and computer-based.
  • Exam to be held in single shift for subjects with large registrations. No normalisation process for single shift examinations.
  • Subject choices have been reduced to six from ten. Six choices include two languages, three domain subjects and a general test.

Following are the sectional divisions for CUET 2024:

  • Section IA – 13 Languages: English, Hindi, Gujarati, Bengali, Assamese, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Odia, and Urdu
  • Section IB – 20 Languages: Chinese, German, French, Arabic, Italian, Japanese, Nepali, Russian, Spanish, Tibetan, Dogri, Bodo, Kashmiri, Konkani, Maithili, Manipuri, Santhali, and Sindhi.
  • Section II – 27 Domain-specific Subjects: Accountancy, Biology, Business Studies, Chemistry, Computer Sciences, Economics, Geography, History, Home Science, Legal Studies, Maths, Physics, Political Sciences, Psychology, Sociology, and Anthropology
  • Section III – General Test: General Knowledge, Current Affairs, General Mental Ability, Numerical Ability, Quantitative Reasoning (Simple application of basic mathematical concepts arithmetic/algebra geometry/mensuration/stat taught till Grade 8), Logical and Analytical Reasoning.

From the above (all 3 sections combined), a candidate can choose a maximum of 10 subjects

Marking Scheme             

  • +5 mark for each correct answer
  • -1 mark for each incorrect answer
