NEET 2024 Retest And Counselling

NEET 2024 Retest and Counselling

The NEET 2024 retest is scheduled for Sunday, May 23, 2024, specifically for 1,563 candidates who received grace marks due to time loss at their exam centres on May 5, 2024. According to a report by the Press Trust of India, an NTA senior official mentioned that six of these candidates achieved 720 marks after receiving grace marks.

As a result, the merit list may change unless these six candidates retake the NEET 2024 exam and score the maximum marks. If any of these six candidates score below 720, the number of candidates with an AIR 1 ranking could drop from 67 to 61. If some, but not all, of these candidates maintain their scores, the merit positions of all candidates may also be affected.

In another scenario, if some NEET 2024 retest candidates achieve higher scores than they did on the May 5 exam, their ranks will improve. This could potentially lead to significant changes in the entire NEET 2024 merit list or rank positions.

Scoring Criteria for NEET 2024 Retest

NTA has specified that the NEET 2024 re-examination is applicable under the following circumstances only:

The scorecards issued to all 1,563 affected candidates on June 4, 2024, will be canceled and withdrawn. These candidates will be notified of their actual scores (without compensation) via their registered email IDs.

A re-examination will be conducted for these 1,563 affected candidates.

The result of those affected candidates (1563) who do not wish to appear for the reexamination, will be declared based on their actual marks (without compensation) obtained in the exam conducted on May 5, 2024.

The marks obtained by candidates in the re-test will be considered, and their scores from the May 5, 2024 exam will be discarded. “The fresh scorecard for candidates who appear for the re-examination will be posted on the website after the examination,” stated the NTA. NEET 2024 counselling for the 15 percent All India Quota (AIQ) is expected to begin on July 6, 2024.

NEET Counselling

The NEET UG 2024 counselling dates will be announced soon, following the Supreme Court’s decision not to postpone NEET counselling despite several petitions. Conclusion

The NEET 2024 retest and counselling processes are set to significantly impact the merit list and rank positions for this year. The retest, scheduled for May 23, 2024, for 1,563 candidates, aims to address discrepancies caused by time loss at exam centres. The results of this retest will be crucial in determining the final merit list, especially for those candidates who initially received grace marks.

The subsequent counselling, set to begin around July 6, 2024, will follow a structured process managed by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). Despite various petitions, the Supreme Court has upheld the decision to proceed with the counselling as scheduled. Eligible students must ensure they meet the criteria and follow the necessary steps to register, fill choices, and verify their information.

With the potential changes in ranks due to the retest, the NEET UG 2024 counselling process will be dynamic and critical for all aspiring medical students. The outcome of the retest and the thorough counselling procedures will ensure a fair and transparent admission process for MBBS, BDS, and BSc Nursing programs across India.
